National Housing Training Institute (NHTI) Scholarship Description

About NHTI

NHTI is an intensive workshop intended for housing professionals committed to advancement within the filed of university/college housing. Individuals with three to five years full-time housing experience are invited to apply. A competency model serves as an assessment tool for daily workshops, discussions, and exercises and is the basis for the NHTI curriculum.

Participants and NHTI faculty reside together in suites and apartments at the University of Maryland while attending the Institute, mixing faculty and participants to foster an environment of discussion and informal conversation about the Institute's topics and competencies. Short term and long term professional goals are developed within the context of this living and learning relationship between faculty and NHTI participants.

Guidelines:

  • NCHO will offer a $250 scholarship to a housing/residence life professional working in the state of North Carolina to attend the National Training Institute (NHTI).

  • Recipient selection is the responsibility of NCHO.

  • The awards Committee will supervise the selection processs.

  • Applications are due by determined date.

  • Applicant must be willing to write an account of the conference experience to the NCHO Past President following the conclusion of the institute for possible publication.

  • Applicant must be willing to facilitate a program during the annual conference based on something they gained as the result of attending NHTI. If candidate cannot attend the annual conference, they may be asked to submit the same information in the form of an article for the Signpost or SEAHO Report.

  • The Executive Council of NCHO will establish criteria for selection.

Eligibility:

  • Candidate must have been accepted into NHTI.

  • Candidate who exhibits a financial need.
