NCHO Annual Conference Scholarships
NCHO annually awards funds to delegates across the state to inspire a diverse attendance to our annual conference celebration. Submission is quick and easy and only requires you to answer two essay questions regarding your professional goals, how attending the conference might help you achieve them and how you plan to utilize the experience with attending the annual conference to enhance the residential community on your campus. Now how easy is that!
This year we are offering the following funding opportunities:
- 2 Scholarships to a full-time professional from an Historically Black College or University
- 2 Scholarships to a full-time professional representing an institution with a total enrollment of less than 3,000 students to qualify as a Small College or University.
- 6 Scholarships to a part/full time Graduate Student employed by a Housing and Residence Life Department at one of the institutions within the state of North Carolina
- 1 Scholarship for an Undergraduate Student that is employed by a Housing/Residence LIfe Department or who serves in a leadership capacity in a Residence Hall Association or NRHH
- 1 Scholarship for a Presenter whose program submission was accepted and approved for the Fall 2018 Annual Conference.
Deadline for ALL Scholarship submissions (EXCEPT Presenter Scholarship forms) is September 18.

Presenter Scholarship:
Presenter Scholarship forms will be sent out to those individuals who submitted and were approved by the Professional Development committee to present at the Fall 2023 Annual Conference.
Scholarship Recipients need to:
- Send a copy of the conference/workshop registration to the NCHO Business Manager.
- Turn in all necessary receipts before the conference/workshop as directed by the NCHO Business Manager.
- Write an article about your conference/workshop experiences for the NCHO Signpost. This article should be sent to the NCHO Communications Coordinator within 3 weeks after the conference/workshop.

Other Conferences – SEAHO, ACUHO-I, RELI, NHTI
NCHO offers many scholarships and awards outside of just the NCHO Annual Conference, including awards for SEAHO, ACUHO-I, RELI, NHTI and more!
Once selected, Scholarship Recipients need to:

- Write an article about your conference/workshop experiences for the NCHO Signpost. This article should be sent to the NCHO Communications Coordinator within 3 weeks after the conference/workshop.
ACUHO-I Conference
ACUHO-I’s largest event, the Annual Conference & Exposition brings together campus housing professionals from around the globe for four days of invigorating speakers, engaging educational sessions, and invaluable networking opportunities.
NCHO will offer one (1) scholarship to cover the cost of early registration.
Regional Entry Level Institute (RELI)
The Regional Entry Level Institute (RELI) is an intensive professional development experience for entry-level professionals who aspire to mid-level positions in housing and residence life. RELI is open to housing/residence life professionals with one to three years of experience. Participants are clustered with other participants and a faculty member who is a mid- to senior-level professional. In an effort to maintain the mentoring environment and ensure faculty/participant engagement, only 32 participants are selected per year.
NCHO offers as many as three (3) scholarships for the RELI program each year.
James C. Grimm National Housing Training Institute (NHTI)
NHTI provides a thorough and intensive professional development experience for professionals with three to seven years of full-time experience who are looking to further their careers in housing. Participants meet and interact with other colleagues, establish mentor relationships with experts in the field, create professional development plans, and gain skills and competencies needed to meet the current and future demands of the profession.
NCHO will offer one (1) scholarship of up to $500 to help with attending NHTI. (Current cost is $1,600 + transportation). The 2019 conference will be held June 3-6 at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas. We will attempt to email all applicants selected from North Carolina directly, but individual notification cannot be guaranteed.
SEAHO
NCHO will offer up to (2) two scholarships per year to cover registration coast at the annual SEAHO conference. The scholarships are intended to make conference attendance more financially viable for housing professionals from the state of North Carolina. Our hope, is to have the recipient(s) share what they have learned from the conference with others at their institution and around the state.
